ABOUT US
|
Formed in 1996, SWIFT is a
group of doctors and other healthcare professionals, who
voluntarily give their time and skills, at any time of the night and day, to help people involved in serious accidents or other
emergencies.
Our members undergo extra training to become skilled in
providing life-saving emergency care outside the hospital environment.
SWIFT medics are called to emergencies
by the Ambulance Service, and work as part of a team with them. They
carry specialised equipment and drugs and have skills that are not
usualy provided by the ambulance service.
We are proud to be affilliated to the British Association for Immediate
Care (BASICS), a registered charity (no 276054). BASICS acts as a
national co-ordinating body for both schemes and individuals providing
Immediate Care throughout the United Kingdom.
